Article Site
Builder
Setting Up Your Templates
Your article site will consist of a set
of articles pages (one for each of your
articles), a site map page (which is a page
containing links to all your article pages)
and a links page (for exchanging links with
other sites).
All the pages are generated
from templates, so before you can use this
software, you need your templates.
You can download a standard set of
templates by {LINK AVAILABLE AFTER
PURCHASE} (please make sure you are
connected to the Internet before using this
link)
Unzip these standard templates onto your
PC. There are three separate templates -
one for articles, one for the site map page
and one for the links page.
You can then use these templates as-is or
create your own templates by modifying them
however you wish using an HTML editor.
If you create your own templates, you do
not have to have three separate templates -
you can use a single template for all the
pages if you prefer. However if you do want
to use three separate templates, they
must all be in the same folder on your
PC and should be called ArticleTemplate,
SiteMapTemplate and
LinksTemplate.
If you create your own templates, you can
use .html, .htm or .php
files. Your resulting web pages will have
the same extension as your templates.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON
USE OF THE STANDARD TEMPLATES
The standard templates
are for your personal use only. You
are NOT permitted to sell or give away the
templates or any site generated from them.
If you wish to create sites to sell to
other people using this software, you must
create your own template from scratch and
ensure that it is visually and
structurally totally different from the
standard templates.
Setting Up Your Articles And Header Graphic
All your articles should be in a single
folder on your PC. The software will
generate a web page for every text or HTML
file in the folder.
You will also (optionally) need a header
graphic for each set of articles. You should
include the header graphic in the same
folder as your articles. The file must be a
.jpg file and be named "header.jpg".
The software will automatically copy the
header graphic to the output folder, ready
to be uploaded along with all your web
pages.
If you are using the standard template,
the template dimensions will be
automatically adjusted to match the size of
the header graphic you are using.
Using The Site Builder
To use the Site Builder software, click
the button above then enter your details
into the boxes as follows:
Article Template
Click the
Browse button and select your article
template. If there is a site map page
template and a links page template in the
same folder as your article template, they
will be used automatically. If the site map
page template or links page template are not
present, the article template will be used
to build the site map page and links page.
Index Type
Most people
leave this set to "Show a randomly
selected article", which is the best
option for Search Engine Optimization. Note
that this does not really show randomly
selected articles. It actually shows all
your articles in sequence, showing each
one for 24 hours. This is designed to make
it look like your site is manually updated
every day, which is something the search
engines look favorably on. If for some
reason you prefer a different period to 24
hours, you can modify the generated index.php
file using a text editor such as Windows
Notepad (just change the number at the top
of the file).
Alternatively you
can set the Index Type to "Show
the sitemap page", giving you a static
index page showing the site map (which is a
list of links to all your article pages).
Create Links Page
The site
optionally includes a links page, to allow
you to exchange links with other sites.
Select Yes to create the links page
or No if you don't want this
feature. If you are using the standard
templates, the links page is only linked to
from your site map page (and not from any
other pages). This minimizes the page rank
loss from your site. Once the links page has
been created, you can edit the page using a
standard HTML editor whenever you want, to
insert appropriate links to other sites.
Colors
Select the primary and secondary text colors
for your site by clicking on the two color
boxes and then using the standard color
selector to pick appropriate colors. The
primary color is used for various headings
and advert text on the pages. The secondary
color is primarily used for links on the
pages. The best way to see how the colors
are used is to generate the site with
different color options and view the
results.
Show Dashed Borders
The standard
templates include borders consisting of
dashes separating the header graphic from
the rest of the page and separating the main
article section from the navigation strip on
the right hand side. If you prefer not to
show these borders, uncheck this checkbox
and the borders will be hidden.
Website URL
Enter the URL
for your website. For example:
www.mysite.com
Website Subfolder
If the site
will be uploaded to a subfolder on your
website, enter the name of the subfolder.
For example, if the site will be in
www.mysite.com/koi-fish, you should
enter the subfolder as koi-fish. If
you are not using a subfolder, leave the box
blank.
Site Niche
Enter the
niche for your site into the box. For
example if you are building a site from a
set of Koi Fish articles, the site niche
would be "Koi Fish". This will be used as
the search term to find suitable videos for
the video wall on your site. If you are
using the standard templates, it is also
used in the title at the top of the site map
and links pages.
Adsense ID
Enter your Adsense ID. If you don't
currently have one, make sure you are
connected to the Internet, then click
here to sign up. Once you have signed
up, you will need to find your Adsense ID
and enter it into the box. If you don't know
how to do this, please read the section
below: Getting Your Adsense ID.
Adsense channel
Most people don't use this feature
and just leave the box blank. If you want to
use channels, please read the section below:
Setting Up Your Adsense Channels.
Amazon ID
Enter your Amazon ID. If you don't
currently have one, make sure you are
connected to the Internet, then click
here to sign up. Note that every
application is considered on its own merit
and Amazon do sometime refuse sites.
Clickbank ID
Enter your Clickbank ID. If you
don't currently have one, make sure you are
connected to the Internet, then click
here to sign up and select the "Promote
Products" option.
CB Search Text
This box is usually left blank. If
you are using the standard template, there
is a button on the web pages to allow people
to search Clickbank for suitable products.
By default, this uses the text you entered
into the Site Niche box as the text
to search for. If you would prefer to use
different search text, enter it into the
CB Search Text box.
Addon 1 to 4
These boxes are usually left blank.
These are intended for use with future "addons",
which are compatible software modules
that may be released in the future to
enhance your sites. These Addons will be
optional and may require additional payment.
For advanced users, you can also use these
entries for your own purposes if you want to
add custom items to your own templates.
Get Title From
For most Private Label articles,
the file name of the text file is the title
of the article, so the software should be
set to the Article File Name
option. For some Private Label articles
however, the title is instead the first line
inside the text file. In this case,
the software should be set to Article
First Line.
Create Button
When you have filled in the boxes,
click the Create button then select
any one of the article text files (all text
files in the same folder will be processed
automatically). Select where to save the new
generated web page files on your PC. The
software will then generate all the files.
You should
then upload all the files to your web host
using your usual FTP software.
Getting Your Adsense ID
Once you have an Adsense account, you
need your Adsense ID.
Here's the easiest way to get your ID...
In your Adsense account on Google.com, go
to the Products section (in
Adsense Setup) and select Adsense
For Content. Now create an ad unit.
Pick any format and colors (they are not
relevant for this purpose).
Your Adsense code will then be shown in
the Your AdSense code box at the
bottom of the page. Click in the box and
copy the contents to your Windows clipboard
(right click and select Copy).
Now go to the Site Builder software
and click the Paste button next to
the Adsense ID box. The software
will automatically extract your Adsense ID
from the Adsense code and display it in the
box. The software will automatically
remember your ID so you should only need to
go through this process once.
Setting Up Your Adsense Channels
Adsense channels are useful if you have
lots of websites. The provide a way of
tracking how much Adsense income is
generated by each site.
If you already know how to set up an
Adsense channel and how to get the channel
ID for your channel, you can skip this
section.
To create a channel, login to your
Adsense account on Google.com, then go to
the Channels section (in
Adsense Setup) and select Custom
channels.
Use the Add new
custom channels option to add a new
channel, giving it an appropriate name.
To use a channel, the software needs to
know the channel ID.
Note that
the channel ID is NOT the same as the
channel name.
Unfortunately it is not trivial to get
the IDs for each channel. Here's the easiest
way to get your channel IDs...
In your Adsense account on Google.com, go
to the Products section (in
Adsense Setup) and select Adsense
For Content. Now create an ad unit.
Pick any format and colors (they are not
relevant for this purpose), then select the
channel for your ad unit.
Your Adsense code will then be shown in
the Your AdSense code box at the
bottom of the page. Click in the box and
copy the contents to your Windows clipboard
(right click and select Copy).
Now go to the Site Builder software
and click the Paste button next to
the Adsense ID box. The software
will automatically extract your Adsense ID
and your channel ID from the Adsense code
and display them in the boxes.
Language
Translation Buttons
The standard templates include a set of
language translation buttons at the top
right of your pages. These allow visitors to
your site to get an instant translation of
your web page into different languages.
The translated pages are not
indexed by the search engines and are not
part of your website. They are provided by a
service of Google.com. Note that Adsense and
Amazon ad units are not translated and
remain in English.
Note also that if you translate your page
into one language (for example German), then
trying to translate the result into another
language (such as French) an error will
result. The translation buttons will only
work correctly from the original English
version of your page. This is not a problem
for real users of your site (as they will
only be interested in a single language),
but you may notice this issue if you test
the buttons yourself.
For
Advanced Users Only: Language Page Caching
Ignore this section unless you are
experienced in installing scripts.
There is an alternative configuration
available, which allows the translated pages
to actually become part of your website and
get indexed by the search engines as
additional pages on your site. This can
multiply the size of your site by 7 (so a 10
page site becomes a 70 page site). The extra
pages are however all in a foreign language,
so may be of little value and may not even
get indexed by the search engines.
Use of this feature requires your web
host to support Mod Rewrite (not supported
by some web hosts, so you may need to check
if your host supports this feature). It also
requires you to know how to use "chmod" on a
folder of your website.
If you are not familiar with these
concepts, please do not try to use this
feature. There is no support for this
feature at all as it is only intended for
advanced users.
To use this feature, you must download
the special language template pack and use
this template instead of the standard
templates. There are full instructions in
the readme.txt file inside the zip.
To download this special pack,
click here (please make sure you are
connected to the Internet before using this
link).
Advanced
Users Only - Creating Your Own Templates
Ignore this
section unless you want to create your own
template. Templates can contain "tags"
(special text) which is automatically
replaced by the software, as follows:
Article title - replaced with the title
of the article (for site map page and links
page, it is replaced with the Site Niche
- see above).
%%title%%
Article text - replaced with the text of
the article.
%%article%%
Site map - replaced with the site map
(only used on the site map page template)
%%sitemap%%
Page title and link - these two should be
used together as a pair, forming a link to
another article page. For each pair of tags,
an article is selected at random from the
set of articles being processed. The
pagetitle tag is replaced with the article's
title and the pagelink tag is replaced with
a link to the article's web page.
%%pagetitle%%
%%pagelink%%
Site map title and link - these two
should be used together as a pair, forming a
link to the site map page (which is the home
page if the sitemap is on the home page).
%%sitemaptitle%%
%%sitemaplink%%
Links page title and link - these two
should be used together as a pair, forming a
link to the links page (or the site map page
if the site does not have a links page).
%%linkpagetitle%%
%%linkpagelink%%
Web domain - replaced with the domain
name (for example mysite.com) -
this does not include any subfolder -
just the domain name.
%%webdomain%%
Web home URL - replaced with the full URL
of the home page
(for example http://www.mysite.com/koi-fish/).
%%webhome%%
Web URL - replaced with the full URL of
the current page
(for example
http://www.mysite.com/koi-fish/koi_fish_article.html).
%%weburl%%
Web file name - replaced with just
the file name of the current page
(for example koi_fish_article.html).
%%webfilename%%
Addons - these are replaced with the text
from the addons boxes. They are intended for
future addon modules which may be released
in future. You can also use them for your
own purposes if you want to add custom items
to your template.
%%addon1%%
%%addon2%%
%%addon3%%
%%addon4%%
Adsense ID and Channel, Amazon ID,
Clickbank ID tags - replaced with your IDs.
%%googleid%%
%%googlechannel%%
%%amazonid%%
%%cbid%%
Site niche - replaced with the site niche
in different formats.
%%siteniche%% - each word capitalized,
words separated by spaces
%%site+niche%% - all lower case, words
separated by '+' character
%%site-niche%% - all lower case, words
separated by '-' character
%%site&niche%% - all lower case, words
separated by '&' character
Clickbank search text - replaced with the
Clickbank search text in different formats.
%%cbsearch%% - each word capitalized,
words separated by spaces
%%cb+search%% - all lower case, words
separated by '+' character
%%cb-search%% - all lower case, words
separated by '-' character
%%cb&search%% - all lower case, words
separated by '&' character
Note that the header graphic width and
height values are replaced by "value
substitution" rather than using tags (to
allow for header graphics of different sizes
to the standard 750x150 pixels). All
occurrences of height=150 and
width=750 are replaced by the actual
height and width of the header graphic.
Note that the color values are
also replaced by "value substitution" rather
than using tags. All occurrences of 0000FF
and 008000 are replaced by the
primary and secondary colors. All
occurrences of 0000FE are also
replaced by the primary color if the dashed
borders are to be shown, or by FFFFFF
(White) if the dashed borders are to be
hidden.
Random Home
Page Script
This section is intended for advanced users
only.
If you are just using the Site
Builder tool, please ignore this
section.
With the Site Builder tool, the
random home page feature built into your
sites automatically (if you select this
option).
Please read this section if you want to
apply the random home page feature to any
other website you own (i.e. a site NOT built
using the Site Builder tool).
You can use the special Random Home
Page Script to do this.
Download
the special Random Home Page Script
by
{DOWNLOAD
LINK AVAILABLE AFTER PURCHASE}
(please make sure you are connected to the
Internet before using this link).
Unzip the
index.php file and upload it to your website
in place of the existing index page (you
must delete the existing page). PHP files
can be uploaded in exactly the same way as
ordinary HTML files.
You should
not need to make any changes to the
index.php file at all.
The script
will automatically select one of the PHP or
HTML pages in the same folder as index.php
and show it.
If there
are files in the folder which you do NOT
want ever to be shown as the home page, you
can edit the index.php file to exclude them.
Open the
file in a text editor, such as Notepad
(supplied with Windows).
Edit the following line:
$skipfilelist = 'index.php,
randomlinks.php, adsenselock.php';
Add the file names to be excluded
in front of index.php, with a comma after
each one.
Please note that the script does not work in
quite the same way as the random home
page feature built into the Site
Builder. The script does actually
randomly select an article every time the
site is shown. This approach is commonly
used on article sites, but is less "search
engine friendly" that the solution used by
the Site Builder.
Random Cross
Link Script
This section is intended for advanced users
only.
If you are
just using the Site Builder tool,
please ignore this section.
With the Site
Builder tool, the random cross link
feature is built into your sites
automatically if the number of articles
exceeds the number of links in the template.
Please read
this section if you want to apply the random
cross link feature to any other website you
own (i.e. a site NOT built using the Site
Builder tool).
You can use the special Random Cross
Link Script to do this.
Please Note:
This script is only intended for use on web
hosts supporting "Mod Rewrite" and using ".htaccess"
files. If you are not sure whether your host
supports these, you can simply try the
software on your website to see if it works.
Alternatively you can ask your web hosting
company whether it supports "Mod Rewrite".
If your web host does not support this
feature, you can still use the script, but
you will need to change every page which
contains random cross links into a .php
page. This is simply a matter of changing
the file extension from .htm or .html to .php.
So for example, "page1.html" would become
"page1.php". In addition, you must add the
following line to the top of each file:
<? include "randomlinks.php"; ?>
Note that you do NOT
need to do any of this if you are just using
the Site Builder tool (the Site
Builder tool does NOT require your host
to support "Mod Rewrite").
You can download the Random Cross Link
Script by
{DOWNLOAD LINK AVAILABLE AFTER PURCHASE}
(please make sure you are connected to the
Internet before using this link).
Unzip the
randomlinks.php and .htaccess files and
upload them to your website in the required
folder. These files can be uploaded in
exactly the same way as ordinary HTML files.
You will also need
to make changes to any web pages that you
want random links to appear in. You will
need to add special tags %%pagetitle%% and
%%pagelink%% to the page where you want
random links inserted. These two tags
should be used together as a pair, forming a
link to another web page. For an example of
how to use these tags, look at the standard
article template supplied with the Site
Builder tool.
For each pair of tags, a web is selected
at random from the set of web pages in the
same folder as the randomlinks.php
script. The %%pagetitle%% tag is replaced
with the file name (without the
extension) and the %%pagelink%% tag is
replaced with a link to the web page.
If there are files
in the folder which you do NOT want ever to
be used as randomly selected links, you can
edit the randomlinks.php file to exclude
them.
Open the file in a
text editor, such as Notepad (supplied with
Windows).
Edit the following
line:
$skipfilelist = 'index.htm,
index.html, index.php, ..... links.html,
links.php';
Add the file names to be excluded
in front of index.htm, with a comma after
each one.
Search Phrase
Customizer
Setting
Up Your Web Pages
This software allows
you to have your web pages automatically
customized so that when someone reaches the
page from a search engine, the page displays
the exact search phrase used.
For example, if your web page is about
apples and someone searches for "Red
Apples", you can actually display the term
"Red Apples" as the title of the page.
If someone else searches for "Green Apples",
your web page would display the term "Green
Apples" as the title of the page.
If someone reaches your page without using a
search engine, the page would display the
default title "Apples".
Before you can use this software, you need
to insert text into your web page where you
want the search phrase to appear.
Simply insert "replacesearchphrase" at the
point in your web page where you want the
search term to appear.
The search term will be shown in place of "replacesearchphrase"
using the same font, colors, style, etc.
You can include "replacesearchphrase" as
many times as you want and all instances
will be replaced with the search phrase.
You can determine whether the search phrase
is shown using capitol or small letters by
using different variations of "replacesearchphrase".
If you use "replacesearchphrase", the search
phrase will be shown in lower case - for
example "red apples".
Alternatively, you can use "Replacesearchphrase"
and the search phrase will be shown with the
first letter capitolized - for example "Red
apples".
You can also use "ReplaceSearchPhrase" and
the search phrase will be shown with the
first letter of each word capitolized - for
example "Red Apples".
Or you can use "REPLACESEARCHPHRASE" and the
search phrase will be shown all in capitol
letters - for example "RED APPLES".
To use this software, proceed as follows...
1. Select the web page file to be updated
(usually an HTML file).
2. Enter the default text to be displayed if
there is no search term. For example, if the
page was not accessed through a search
engine, you may want to display "Apples"
3. Click the Update button and the
web page will be automatically updated.
4. Upload it to your website as normal.
